12:14 am - An odd sort
of day.
For the first time in quite a while,
cluegirl and I slept in... till noon. Since the long weekend of faire I have been running low on energy and since before that I've not had words for much of anything unless dealing with direct contact. Well, 14 hours of sleep seems to have greatly helped that. I'm still not 'bouncy' but I am doing well and better than I have been. Anyway, we got up way later than we should have and went out to the Farmer's Market to get some good wine for
pheylan and
jperegrine's visit. Unfortunately because I did not call during the week and the hour we arrived, we did not get all of what we wanted. Still, we have a case of very good wine. From there we went off to Professor Java's for, err, our first meal of the day. From there, we made a mistake...
Clue has been cleaning and re-arranging her office and would like a new desk to replace the one that we bought for the old house. Yesterday we went to Pottery Barn, but they did not have a display model for what we wanted to look at. Today we went to Bombay company to look at their wares since they had a couple of styles she liked. We both decided quickly that we were not purchasing there. You see, what they have looks nice and is relatively well constructed but is not real wood. The floor model of the desk she liked at a corner broken on the moulding. This showed us that it was really particle board... very high quality particle board to be sure, but not what we want. We are to the point of requiring our furniture to be higher quality and real wood.
Next stop was the Stickley store... this was the real mistake. We did not find Clue a desk, we did however replace ALL of my office furniture. I have desired a new desk to meet my needs for quite a while and we found the perfect desk. It was designed by a computer geek and was designed for my needs exactly. The thing is real wood, solid and looks great. We also purchased two lateral file cabinets and two book shelves to go on top. We also are getting in home delivery, which is an excellent thing because the desk alone ways 269 pounds. For those interested, I purchased the Hooker Villa Florence Computer Credenza, Lateral File Cabinet and Open Hutch.
I'm actually quite excited by all of this but it also means that I just 6 weeks to completely clear out my office and prep it for the new furniture. Should be interesting.
And no, we still don't have a new desk for Clue, though we do know what drafting table she'll be getting.
